ONLINE SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING IN OC & THROUGHOUT CA

Take back control of your life.

Are you using substances to cover up how you feel?

You might have been dealt a bad hand of cards in life. Injury, tragedy, trauma, or unexpected life events may have affected you, and substances offer some relief, but now it’s out of your control.

You’re at a point in your life where you’ve lost important relationships, a job, or any sense of who you are. It’s tiring to live a double life–one where you put up a front that you’re ok, and the one where you’re in pain.

You know that alcohol or drugs are not the answer for you anymore. You’re ready to get in control of your life.

The road to recovery starts with believing in yourself.

When you believe in yourself, anything is possible.

In counseling, we will start with looking at your strengths. The fact that you have made it here and have invested time to figure out how to feel better without substances shows your courage to face this challenge.

The work we do together in counseling involves our collaboration on your goals, your motivation and hard work, and teaching you how to live a sober life with a recovery mindset. This means understanding yourself and your triggers, applying stress management skills, and being honest about how you feel. You will find that by following the recovery plan we create together will lead to more trust and fulfillment in your relationships and achievement of your life goals.

Our clients show up to counseling ready to do the work. We’ll help you stay accountable to your goals, teach you the skills you need for triggers and stressors, problem solve through relapses or other bumps in the road, and build a plan of attack for how to maintain your gains long after counseling is over.

FAQS

What others have wondered about substance abuse counseling

  • There are a number of signs, but one of the main signs is that even if you want to stop or cut back on drinking or using a substance, you have a hard time doing so. Also, you find that you need to hide how much or how often you’re using because you fear the judgment that may come your way. Another sign is when you experience negative consequences due to alcohol or substance use in a few areas of your life, like an impact on your relationships, your job, or your health. Sometimes people have a problematic relationship with a substance, and other times people may have a diagnosis of a substance use disorder. You can always explore your relationship with substances with an experienced and trusted health professional.

  • Yes. It’s normal to not fully understand what qualifies as a problem for you. It’s all too easy these days to get lost in the information we find on the internet, what our family and friends tell us, and what we know to be true. You can reach out to us for help even if you’re unsure, and we will support you in getting clarity.

  • It depends on your goals, motivation, and life circumstances. If your goal is to stop using substances, and you find you can achieve this in a few months, counseling may last a few months. But we all have curve balls thrown at us in life, and we all have ups and downs in our motivation level when it comes to our goals. It’s part of the human experience. For some, counseling will last longer than a few months to account for unexpected life events. We will support you in refining your coping skills to tackle whatever life can throw at you.
